1. There's a bran-spanking-new composter perched next to my house.
2. My seedlings are enormous- not even seedlings, almost full-fledged plants! I will pot up tomorrow!
3. The daffs are up and blooming.
4. Birds birds birds
5. We *might* hear peepers tonight.
6. Harry doesn't have chicken pox.
7. Harry and TMOTH have school vacation next week- meaning lots of QT for the two of them.
8. My assistant says we just might make the budget after all.
9. Pizza for dinner tonight.
10. 80 degrees today. 80! wOOt!
11. New Haircut
12. Pansies
13. My summer clothes still fit.
14. It's April! April! That means NO MORE SNOW!!!!

When the phone rang at 5:30 this morning, (the universal signal for "snow day" in teacher-speak) I gave thanks for the following:
1. TMOTH didn't have to get out of bed to call the TV station and all the teachers, because he's not the principal anymore.
2. The tree is up and the laundry is done (thanks TMOTH!)
3. There's coffee in the house.
4. The outside lights are all hung.
5. Our oil tank is full.
6. I made potato soup yesterday and there are gallons left over in the fridge.
7. My shopping is pretty much all done.
8. There's no school, which besides the *obvious* reasons for being of the good, allows me to recover from Molly's newfound inability to sleep longer than 2 hours at a stretch, resulting in TMOTH and I alternately marching upstairs to a) cover her up again, b) locate Teddy or Sheep, c) scratch her back, d) assure her that there are no monsters in the hallway, or e) open/ close her door to her obsessive-complusive specifications.
My kids, however, are grumpy because:
1. the eggs are bad and, therefore, there will be no waffles, pancakes, muffins, or french toast for the traditional (meaning, we did it once) snow day breakfast.
The snow is lovely, though. Too bad pics don't quite do it justice...

So of the stuff I was *going* to do, the only things I didn't do were the sprinkler (no interest) and Stonewall Farm (ditto). The kids are freaking wiped out. But at this point, at 4 o'clock on Labor Day, here are the tasks remaining:
1. Push furniture around in the kids rooms.
Both rooms got spring makeovers celebrating the fact that we no longer had to keep their heaters clear. While we don't need the heaters clear *tonight*, the temps the last few nights have dropped to the 40's. Heaters can't be far behind. So, furniture must be pushed. Got a "bookshelf" for Molly's room. (Note the quotes- TMOTH says it's a CD shelf and not a great option, but it was $3.00 at a yard sale)
2. Bathe kids. Not that they're that dirty, but it *is* part of the Sunday night routine, and since tonight is the de facto Sunday of the week...
3. Plan meals and lunches for the week. Not just what I'm going to eat, but what the kids are going to eat. I'm throwing in the towel and getting sneaky. Ground flax seed in their pancakes, pureed spinach and zucchini in their spaghetti sauce...I've officially become that mom.
4. Straighten up the house.
TMOTH did the bathroom, bless him, so all I've got is a general sort of picking up, which leads me to...
5. Swap toys. Periodically, basement toys move upstairs, upstairs toys move to the basement, and a select few relocate to the living room. I've been putting off the big swap, but the hour is upon me.
6. Drink a beer and watch the Series Finale of Kyle XY, my guilty summer pleasure.
But before we officially call summer over, one last summer moment to share...
